DIRECTIONS: The Wawona Road is CA Highway 41 as it enters through the south entrance of Yosemite National Park. There are lots of things to see and do along Highway 41 prior to it entering the park but, for purposes of simplicity, I will only be discussing things that visitors will pass as they travel north to Yosemite Valley.
DESCRIPTION: Immediately after paying the park's entry fee and passing through the ranger kiosk at the south gate, the road will come to a perpendicular intersection. Go right and in two miles, you will be at the Mariposa Grove of Giant Sequoia's. This is the only park attraction that is south of the intersection at the park entrance, so if that is your first stop (recommended for first time visitors), then you will have to double back to continue north to Yosemite Valley.
